"The Snake Oil Reaction"
“To achieve service excellence, you must underperform in strategic ways. This means delivering on the service dimensions your customers value most, and then making it possible—profitable and sustainable—by performing poorly on the dimensions they value least. In other words, you must be bad in the service of good.” -Frances Frei (Uncommon Service)
There is a thing that turns people away fast when they are looking for a solution to their problems. I call it: "The Snake Oil Reaction"
This is when someone offers you to fix all their problems at once. Instantly you become disinterested in this because you feel like its too good to be true and they want to control your wallet. You don't feel in control, you don't trust the person who is offering you the solution to all your problems and you also feel like you’re being manipulated.
I try and do one simple thing for people. I try to help them get started creating things they can be proud of. I don't promise them untold wealth, I don't promise that it will be easy, I just promise that the growth of taking action will be worth it.
Until Tomorrow,
